    Pafuri Camp Designer Tented Safari Lodge in the remote Pafuri Region of the Kruger National Park 1/27 Location Makuleke Private Concession in the Pafuri Region of the Kruger National Park, Limpopo DESCRIPTION: Pafuri Camp is situated in a 24 000-hectare private concession in the Pafuri region between the Limpopo and the Luvuvhu Rivers in the northern sector of the Kruger National Park. This area is the ancestral home of the Makuleke people and is one of the most diverse and scenically attractive areas in the Kruger National Park. This area is certainly the wildest and most remote part of the Park and offers varied vegetation, great game viewing, the best birding in all of the Kruger, and is filled with folklore of the early explorers and ancient civilisations. It is well known for its fever tree forests, beautiful gorges and Crook’s Corner, where the Limpopo and Luvuvhu rivers and three countries, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Mozambique, meet. The region is considered one of Kruger's biodiversity hotspots, with some of the largest herds of elephant and buffalo, leopard and lion and incredibly prolific birdlife. This comfortable luxury safari accommodation stretches along the Luvuvhu River on raised wooden walkways. The camp has 19 designer tents with en-suite bathrooms including indoor and outdoor showers. There are seven ‘family tents’ that sleep families of four. All the tents offer gorgeous views over the Luvuvhu River. A bush bar, swimming pool and al-fresco dining area offer everyday entertainment, and there’s plenty of space to unwind beneath the branches of the giant trees embracing the camp. Activities in the Makuleke / Pafuri area are extremely varied and interesting. Game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, guided walks and fly-fishing are all part of the range of activities that are on offer. One of the most important aspects of this area is its paleo-anthropological history, with its plethora of evidence of early human ancestors stretching back some 2 million years ago, through the Stone Age and into the Iron Age about 400 years ago when the Thulamela dynasty ruled in this area. Three delicious meals are served each day and guests are invited to take advantage of professionally guided morning and afternoon game drives to experience the extraordinary biodiversity, scenic splendour and history for which the Pafuri region is renowned. More adventurous guests can opt for guided bush walks where our guides will reveal many of the intimate secrets of the African bush. Close encounters with animals, both large and small are commonplace. An extraordinary wildlife experience awaits. Large herds of elephant roam the area together with healthy populations of buffalo, antelope, leopard, hyena and more.
