DESCRIPTION:
The camp, named after neighbouring trees with distinctive sausage-shaped fruit, was awarded “Best Location in Africa”, by the Safari Awards due to its remote position within the Lower Zambezi National Park. With panoramic views of the Zambezi River comes an abundance of wildlife wandering along the riverbanks and even through the camp.

Sausage Tree Camp was voted number one on the BBC Holiday Programme’s “Ten Best Luxury Destinations”.The magnificent location within the Lower Zambezi National Park allows the team to offer truly immersive safari experiences, not only on land by four-wheel game-viewing vehicles, but also on foot, by boat and canoe. With expert private guides and “Muchindas” (butlers) to see to your every need, you can be assured of world-class service.

The seven luxurious tented suites and one expansive family House are individually designed with lavish attention to detail. Each comes with its own plunge pool and view of the Zambezi River. Sausage Tree’s Luxury Tented Suites have each been lovingly designed to bring the most elegant safari dreams to life. Whatever your room doesn’t already provide, your private ‘Muchinda’ (or butler) will be sure to arrange.

Imagine a spacious island of cool minimalist style, with a hint of old-school safari glimpsed in the little details and endless views of the Zambezi River stretching out before you. Then add a private plunge pool and a lounge space with a minibar, a sumptuous queen-sized bed, a smooth stone tub and an outdoor shower… and perhaps a buffalo grazing peacefully less than ten steps from your room.

At 4,092 km² of protected wilderness, the Lower Zambezi National Park has minimal human access and the irresistible, life-giving Zambezi River as its heart. An untouched safari world flourishes here, where the wildlife and world-class guides have found a remarkable equilibrium. This hidden wilderness is best experienced from the mighty Zambezi River, which adds a whole new dimension to your luxury Zambian safari.

Climb on board a river cruise or slip into a canoe to make your way through meandering river channels. Float past lush islands and under riverine trees where hundred-strong herds of elephants come down to the water to drink. Stop for lunch on a riverbank, with your feet in the sand and the hippos laughing across the water. Alternatively choose to go on an opeb vehicle safari into the National Park, where off road driving gives you the opportunity of up close and personal game viewing. The Lower Zambezi is renowned for the quality of its guides, and is home to a stunnning range of wildlife, including four of the big five.
