Location

Nestled along the peaceful Monachira Channel, northeast of Moremi Game Reserve, the camp offers year-round water safaris in one of Botswana’s most untouched and wildlife-rich regions.
DESCRIPTION:
Situated in the Moremi Game Reserve, Monachira Camp is aptly named after the Monachira channel flowing alongside it. Elevated wooden decks provide sweeping views of the floodplains teeming with wildlife. Guests can enjoy thrilling game drives and nature walks, as well as, a variety of water-based activities to explore the myriad of islands surrounding the camp offering an immersive experience in the wetlands' beautiful and diverse landscapes.
Based in the Moremi Game Reserve, these activities will take you to some of the more remote areas in the delta. A motorboat ride promises to enthral you and captivate you, with the chance of seeing iconic wildlife from the river. Glide on quiet mokoro’s through the water lilies and view wildlife from below as you sail along at water level height.
The camp is situated on the edge of the Monachira channel not far from the famous Gudigwa heronries, offering great viewing of this amazing nesting ground of thousands of herons, egrets and storks. While game drives are available, Monachira Camp is designed around water-based exploration. Guests can glide through papyrus-fringed channels by mokoro or motorboat, encountering elephants, lions, leopards, and rare antelope species along the way. The nearby Gudigwa heronries are home to thousands of birds, making Monachira a paradise for birdwatchers and photographers alike. A chance to see elephants, lions, leopard and a wide variety of Okavango species on the islands and floodplains along the permanent channels of the Monachira river. Also, a chance to see the elusive Pels Fishing Owl and rare sitatunga, a semi aquatic swamp antelope.
Inspired by classic safaris and infused with a modern flair, Monachira Camp seamlessly blends nostalgia with contemporary luxuries. Our double and family designer tents each contain an en-suite bedroom with modern bathrooms, patio deck and relaxation area, offering ample space to unwind in your own privacy. Shaded by the island forests, our 10 tents are ideally positioned overlooking the vast floodplains while offering unparalleled views of the wildlife frequenting the surrounding wetlands. There are two Family Rooms which sleep 4 in two Luxury Tents combined with a common area, each with an en-suite bathroom. King or Twin beds available.
The camp’s elegant main area includes a beach bar, plunge pool, lounge, curio shop, and open-air dining area, with interiors inspired by the colours and textures of the Delta — warm yellows, soft creams, deep blacks, and natural materials.
