Perched on the edge of a seasonal floodplain in the drier western part of the private Jao Reserve, Tubu Tree Camp and Little Tubu are where land-based safari meets elevated elegance. From your tented suite, raised on wooden platforms beneath shady marula and Jackalberry trees, the Delta opens before you, alive with movement, sound, and untamed beauty.

Tubu Tree

Built into the trees, Tubu Tree Camp offers guests a charming tree-house atmosphere with a series of high wooden walkways connecting the rooms and main areas, with fabulous views of the floodplains. Tubu Tree is situated on the famous Jao Reserve, along the western edge of Hunda Island which offers the best game viewing on the reserve. Its excellent location allows access to both wet and dry habitats showcasing the full splendour of the Okavango Delta.

As its name indicates, this eight-tented traditional-style camp is set into the tree canopy on elevated wooden walkways, with picturesque views over the surrounding floodplains. The family unit has two adjoining tents, separate bathrooms and a shared lounge. The main area’s famous bar is shaded under the spreading boughs of a marula tree and the pool deck maximises the vista across the ever-changing floodplains. The Tubu Star Bed offers a romantic experience under the magnificent African sky.

Little Tubu

Little Tubu is situated on Hunda Island, next to its sister camp, Tubu Tree, connected to it by boardwalks. Hunda Island, the largest dryland environment in this area, hosts a mix of diverse habitats, ensuring a varied game viewing experience. Activities include day and night game drives through productive mopane and acacia woodlands. During winter (May to late September), boating, seasonal fishing and mekoro trips are also offered.

Little Tubu has just three traditional-style tents; these and the main area are shaded by a riverine tree canopy and look out over a seasonal riverbed, which ebbs and flows with the passage of a variety of wildlife. Close by is a Star Bed for sleep-outs under the African sky.

Hunda Island, on which Tubu Tree & Little Tubu are situated, is known for its concentrations of game and offers spectacular wildlife viewing on land, and tranquil adventures on the water. This combination of activities makes time spent at Tubu Tree and Little Tubu a complete Delta experience.
